-ORYAN-

This EP from New York's Oryan (three Ryans and an Adam) melds folk, country and classic rock. The results will be a little too Kings Of Leon at times, as opening track 'The Ride' and most of 'Helvetica' plod along at a leisurely pace. Though as the latter track draws to a close they crank it up a notch with a more raucous riff, and things get more interesting.

Strings keep your attention on 'Manuals', but this EP is largely a more laid back affair – too much so. This is all the more apparent when comical final track 'Millbrook Needs A Taco Bell' arrives with the raw vocals relating how the town – and the world – could live in harmony if it got the right eating establishment. According to the vocals, if this is done "All the Arabs and Jews would make out/ All the white folks would stop being scared of the blacks/ And all the queers would feel free to come out" It's not a mature song, but it's hilarious and far superior to the rest of the EP.
